OC Register: "O.C.'s best high schools of 2011"

Four of the Top 10 public high schools in Orange County have something their peers can only dream about – the ability to admit the students they want.

This crucial factor, combined with other inventive approaches like clustering seventh- through 12th graders under one roof, has given these schools a competitive edge that's propelled them to the top of The Orange County Register's rankings year after year.

Oxford Academy, a Cypress school that admits students in grades 7-12 through a competitive application process, claimed the No. 1 spot in our 2011 high school rankings for a third time, edging out Fullerton's Troy High School, itself home to a wildly successful technology magnet program encompassing nearly half the student body. (Troy snagged the No. 1 spot last year, after two years of Oxford domination.)
